Ingredients
  

For the Filling

  • 1 pound ground beef rich and juicy
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil adding a silky touch
  • 1 small onion, diced with a sweet and savory crunch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced offering a fragrant kick
  • 1 teaspoon cumin providing earthy warmth
  • 1 teaspoon paprika lending a smoky flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder enhancing the spice
  • to taste Salt and pepper for the perfect seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) creamy and melty

For the Pastry

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts) buttery and flaky
  • 1 egg beaten creating a golden finish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until softened.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet and brown it, breaking it up with a spatula.
  • Season the mixture with cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  • Remove from heat and let the beef mixture cool slightly.
  • Unroll the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut out circles from the pie crusts using a 4-inch round cookie cutter.
  • Place a spoonful of the beef mixture on each pie crust circle and add a sprinkle of cheese.
  • Fold the pie crust over to create a half-moon shape and crimp the edges with a fork.
  • Transfer the empanadas to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush the tops of the empanadas with beaten egg.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve hot and enjoy.

Notes

For better flavor, chill assembled empanadas for 15 minutes before baking. Ensure not to overfill empanadas to prevent bursting.
