Glaze Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar For a touch of sweetness in the glaze.
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk To adjust the glaze consistency.
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor of the glaze.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.
  • Add cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture and cut it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the flour-butter mixture, stirring with a fork just until the dough begins to come together.
  • Gently fold in the fresh blueberries.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, pat or roll it into an 8-inch circle, about 1 inch thick.
  • Cut the dough circle into 8 equal wedges.
  • Place the scone wedges onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • While scones cool, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Allow scones to cool for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Drizzle glaze over warm scones before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is cold and avoid overmixing the dough. Serve with clotted cream or jam for a luxurious touch.
