Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil, allowing it to warm until shimmering.
  • Carefully add the ground chicken to the skillet, cooking until it’s no longer pink and breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  • Once the chicken is cooked through, add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic. Stir and cook until the vegetables are soft, about 3-5 minutes.

Cooking

  • Stir in the Cajun seasoning, paprika, oregano, thyme, and cayenne pepper, cooking for another minute to toast the spices.
  • Add the ketchup and water, stirring well to combine all ingredients.
  • Season the mixture with salt and pepper to your liking.
  • Allow it to simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the flavors meld and the mixture thickens slightly.

Serving

  • While the mixture simmers, toast the hamburger buns in a separate skillet or toaster.
  • Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  • Place the top half of the bun over the filling, serve hot, and enjoy.
