  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Adds a warm, fragrant note.
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Creates pockets of gooey chocolate.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, use a mixer to beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the dry flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined, stopping once there are no streaks of flour.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Transfer the dough into the prepared cake pan, spreading it out evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, slice and serve.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce. Consider adding fresh berries on the side for a refreshing twist.
