  • 4 large large eggs Rich and creamy, to create a custardy base.
  • 1/2 cup milk Whole or your favorite alternative, adding moisture and depth.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Fragrant and warm, for that sweet aromatic touch.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Aromatic and spicy, for the classic cinnamon roll flavor.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Providing the perfect amount of sweetness.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Creamy and luscious, for frying and flavor.

Glaze ingredients

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Fluffy and sweet, for drizzling over the top.
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk To achieve the perfect glaze consistency.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Using a rolling pin, flatten each bread slice until thin and flat.
  • In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar.

Cooking

  • Place a tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat and let it melt completely.
  • Dip each bread slice in the egg mixture, ensuring it's fully coated and let excess drip off.
  • Roll up each bread slice tightly to form a roll and place seam side down in the skillet.
  • Cook the rolls until all sides are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Transfer the cooked rolls to the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
  • Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until slightly crispy and golden brown.

Glazing

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm French toast rolls before serving.

Notes

Serve with fresh seasonal fruits, crispy bacon, or sausage links. Avoid overcrowding the skillet for optimal crispiness.
