Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by heating a large pot of salted water over high heat. Once it's boiling, add the gnocchi, and cook according to the package instructions. Cook until they float to the top, signaling they’re ready! Drain the gnocchi and set it aside for later.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Next, add the minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the diced tomatoes along with their juices, stirring to combine everything. Allow this mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and red pepper flakes, and then season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for another 5-7 minutes, thickening slightly.
  • Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet, tossing gently to coat every piece with the creamy tomato sauce.
  • Tear the burrata cheese into small pieces and nestle them into the gnocchi and sauce. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the burrata melt for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and gently stir the melted burrata into the gnocchi mixture.
  • Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Notes

For the best results, ensure your water is boiling before adding the gnocchi to cook evenly. Don’t rush the sautéing of onions and garlic for better flavor.
