  • 1 pound sirloin steak Lean, tender cuts that cook beautifully.

For the Creamy Mash

  • 2 pounds potatoes Starchy, fluffy varieties like Yukon gold or russet.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Lends a rich creaminess to the potatoes.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Salty and nutty, enhancing the mash's flavor.
  • Chopped fresh parsley For garnish.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Mince the garlic cloves finely.
  • Cut the sirloin steak into small bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper.

Cooking the Steak Bites

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1/4 cup of butter.
  • Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the seasoned steak bites to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  • Remove from heat and set aside.

Making the Creamy Mash

  • Peel and chop the potatoes into small chunks.
  • Boil the chopped potatoes in a pot of salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot.
  • Mash the potatoes until smooth, then stir in the remaining 1/4 cup of butter, heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.

Assembly

  • Spread the mashed potatoes evenly in an oven-safe dish.
  • Arrange the cooked steak bites on top of the mashed potatoes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Make sure to let the steak rest before slicing. Adjust seasoning of the mash to your liking.
