Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, olive oil, garlic, herbs, jalapenos, and cheddar cheese.
  • Mix until a cohesive dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Gently punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or alongside soup. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
