For the Dumplings

  • 10 pieces gyoza dumplings Choose pre-made or homemade.

Preparation

  • In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a simmer over medium heat.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the miso paste with a ladle of hot broth until smooth to avoid clumps.
  • Pour the smooth miso mixture back into the pot and stir to combine.
  • Add the sesame oil and soy sauce, stirring gently.

Cooking

  • Carefully add the gyoza dumplings to the pot and allow them to simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until cooked through.
  • Sprinkle in the chopped scallions and stir gently to combine.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, then serve hot.

Notes

Serve alongside a crisp green salad or as a starter to a Japanese-themed dinner. Can be made vegan by substituting chicken broth with vegetable broth and using vegan gyoza.
