Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Brown the meat on each side, breaking it up as it cooks.
  • Add the diced onions and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 2 minutes until the onions become fragrant and translucent.
  • Transfer the meat mixture to your crockpot, then combine cream of chicken soup, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes in the pot.
  • Add the sliced russet potatoes to the mixture and toss gently to coat with the creamy sauce.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and set it on high for 2 hours or low for 4 hours.
  • After the initial cooking period, stir gently and ensure the potatoes are submerged in the liquid.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole, cover again, and continue to cook for an additional 1 to 2 hours until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted.
