For the glaze

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a 4×8 inch or 5×9 inch loaf pan.
  • In a bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, sour cream, lemon zest, lemon juice, and lemon extract until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir gently until completely combined.
  • Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Remove the loaf from the oven and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes.
  • Gently loosen the edges with a knife, then flip the loaf onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Glazing

  • Combine the powdered sugar, lemon juice, milk, and melted butter in a bowl until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over your cooled Lemon Loaf and spread it evenly.
  • Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For best results, bake your loaf within the first two days. Consider using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier option.
