Instructions
 

Prepare Dough

  • In a large bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 2 teaspoons of instant yeast. Pour in 2 1/2 tablespoons of sunflower oil and 3/4 cup of lukewarm water. Mix until it forms a dough.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 10 to 12 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare Filling

  • Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion, diced green bell pepper, and minced garlic, sautéing until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add 1 lb of ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned completely.
  • Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of ground cumin, and 1 teaspoon of onion powder. Stir, then mix in 3/4 cup of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of mustard, and 1/3 cup of water. Let simmer until sauce thickens, about 10 minutes.

Assemble and Cook

  • Punch down the risen dough, divide into portions, and flatten each piece into a disc. Spoon filling into the center of each, adding a slice of cheddar cheese on top.
  • Bring the edges up and seal tightly, then flatten the stuffed dough into a disc shape.
  • Heat a pan over medium heat and cook each stuffed bread for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown.
